2009 Annual Symposium
"The Good, The Bad and the Heart Pump"
Congestive heart failure (CHF) affects 5.2 million Americans. 57,000 die from it yearly and 70-80% of those with CHF< 65 will die within 8 years. Many patients fail current therapy, but new research into cell repair therapy may offer a way to treat them. Over 50% of patients with CHF have preserved systolic function, but mortality in these patients is only slightly lower than in those with poor LV systolic function.
Providers, therefore, will benefit from this educational opportunity to enhance their knowledge and improve their competence to optimize outcomes for patients experiencing CHF and heart failure with preserved systolic function.
